Very soon! IBM Certified Specialist – Storage Technical V1

The next great certification will be released by IBM on July 17, 2017. You never know, this new certification could give you the opportunity to be part of the IBM community and carry the proud title “IBM Certified Specialist”. We have created the detailed instruction “How you can become an IBM Professional in three steps” to help you reach this goal.
First, you need to familiarize yourself with this new certification. Let’s start with the IBM Certified Specialist – Storage Technical V1.
Step 1. Step 1.
The IBM Storage Technical Specialist consults customers to understand their requirements and determine the best solutions.
You need to know the resources available for the solution, have a deep understanding of the features, terminology and benefits of IBM storage solutions, and be able to compare offerings in the enterprise segment.
These tasks can be done without any assistance:
Start the TDA process
determine product positioning;
Gather customer requirements
Provide the technical details necessary for a TCO analysis.
Present the IBM storage product line (to the customer);
IBM storage solutions offer many benefits and features that are clearly outlined.
Develop basic technology topologies and architectural designs.
Identify competitors and use the right tool to determine the performance solution.
With assistance, you can accomplish the following tasks:
Plan implementation of the solution in the pre-install TDA.
Respond to an RFP in the enterprise storage scope
Identify the risks associated with the proposed solution.
Demonstrate the storage solution
Completely detailed design of the entire solution
Send an RPQ/SCORE Request

Conduct IBM TDA
You should be able to use the following resources and tools: eConfig, IBM PartnerWorld, sizing tools such Disk Magic, Capacity Magic and Batch Magic; IBM Comprestimator utility; Storage Consolidation Assessment Tool hosted by Alinean; System Storage Interoperability Center, (SSIC); and Butterfly Study.
You should have at least 12 months of storage experience. Six months must be spent with IBM-designated storage products.
Step 2. Step 2. Preparation for exam.
IBM Certified Specialist – Storage Technical V1 certification requires one test – C9020-668. To get good results, you must first prepare for it.

The IBM Storage Technical V1 exam (C9020-6688) takes approximately an hour with 60 questions.
This exam covers four main topics:
Customer Environment, Requirements and Plans
Information about the product
Application of Resources and Tools
Hybrid Cloud and Analytics Concepts
IBM Storage technologies and solutions are included in the C9020-668 examination. They include IBM Flash Storage; Software Defined Storage, including the IBM Spectrum Suite, IBM Spectrum Control and IBM Spectrum Protect; IBM Spectrum Archive and IBM Spectrum Scale; Cloud Object Storage and IBM tape solutions (TS7700 to TS3500 to TS4500 and TS7760), and technologies (LTO / LTFS).
