Planning for project management can be a nightmare. From deciding what needs doing when to who is responsible to what part of the project, it can be more stressful than actually completing it.

Gantt charts are available. Check out the video below to learn more. Have more questions? You can find our extended guide to Gantt charts here!

Did you know that 57% fail due to a “breakdown of communication”? What if I told that there was a system anyone could use to stop miscommunication from happening?
You’ve likely heard the term “Gantt chart” if you’re a project manager, or are interested in project managing. Gantt charts are an essential part of project management and a great tool for keeping your team on track.
This video will explain what a Gantt Chart is, how they can be used to aid in planning, and why they are so effective.
What is a Gantt Chart? I’m sure you’ve seen them before. They look like this: a bar chart with dates marking the start and end of each part of a project. They are arranged in the order that a task must be completed.
If you are building a stuffed animal, you will need to cut the fur first before you can dress it and ship it off. Karen Collins has provided a Gantt chart that shows the progress of building a Vermont Teddy Bear.

You might think, “I understand this concept but I don’t understand why people would want it.”
These are great ideas in theory. But, what everyone wants is:
Are Gantt charts useful?
The short answer is yes. Let me give an example. The Hoover Dam is a well-known name. It was the largest dam in the world at the time it was constructed in 1935. 21,000 construction workers built it in a harsh climate.
What you may not know is that Gantt charts were one of the first major successes historians have attributed. This planning method was so successful, the Hoover Dam was actually built two years earlier than expected.
That’s planning.
Gantt charts have their flaws. These are the three major objections to Gantt charts.
These objections do not necessarily negate the value of Gantt charts. Gantt charts provide a visual representation for where a project should start and end. They provide a visual representation of where a project should begin and end.
